Kai A. D. Morgan is a registered clinical psychologist and mother to four  [Chy, Xi, Xan & Xo], wife to Chalik Campbell, a homebody who treasures all things psychology and family. She has been lecturing since 1999 in various topics in Clinical Psychology such as Psychopathology, Neuropsychology, Therapy/Counselling, Assessment, Ethics, Research Methods and Statistics. KADMC is the Immediate Past President of the Jamaican Psychological Society, Co-Chair of the Professional Practice & Standards Committee of CANPA, sits on the Executive Board of the Lister Mair Gilby School for the Deaf, and is a member of the APA's Global Psychology Alliance, the International Movement for Prescription Authority for Psychologists and the Association for Black Psychologists. Currently she runs a multi-practice where assessment is a niche service, and  is the Founding Executive Director of  KAHLE Journey, a non-profit focused on her life’s journey - creating trauma-informed Caribbean societies.
This presentation will highlight some of the common tools that are used in the screening and assessment of children and adolescents such as the Behaviour Assessment System for Children, the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale, Â the Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scale, the Connors Rating Scales to name a few. Strengths and challenges of using these tools, from a cultural perspective, with will also be discussed as well as the way forward for Caribbean Psychological Screening and Assessment.
